Feb 10, 2023 | Wedding Tips

The sun is shining and the birds are chirping, which means for many of you getting married in 2023 that it’s time to get ready for your summer wedding! As the weather warms up, start dreaming of your beautiful Lake District wedding without letting the winter chill hold you back.

Summer Lake District Wedding

Green is the theme for summer in the Lake District, green trees, fields, and fells, all set against either the blue of the sky or of a lake. Summer weddings in the Lake District are stunning, and at Broadoaks they are magical. Nestled into the heart of the Lake District this former gentlemen’s lodge has become a popular hub for those looking for somewhere stunning, romantic, and affordable to get married in the most beautiful of places.

Lake District Wedding Venue

While the gorgeous Broadoaks County House needs very little in the way of adornment to make it a stunning wedding venue, we know our couples love to decorate with their own style and flair, so here are a few of our favourite summer wedding ideas for our favourite Lake District wedding venue.

Swap Canape’s for Ice Creams – We all love a canape, and they are a staple to be handed round at different points in the wedding day. We advise for afternoon canapes to be traded up to be some sort of ice cream These can be small, cute cones filles with fruit or little cartons filled with ice cream and the couple’s favourite toppings. A perfect way to cool down your guests and provide a sweet treat at the same time.

Add BBQ Elements to Your Food – While you might still want a fancy dinner for your wedding breakfast, you can also add it subtle nods to the season if you want to. Including BBQ sauce on the tables or as a wedding favour is a fun thing to do, or having some non-traditional sides including sweetcorn can be another way to bring the BBQ to life.

Everyone Loves Garden Games – Whether you invite adult only to your wedding or have a lot of families attending, everyone loves garden games. The grounds at Broadoaks are perfect for the laying out of a few games or even setting up a treasure trail or hunt for your guest to try while the photos are being taken. Summer is about having fun outdoors with friends and if you offer some outdoor games your guests will certainly be having fun in the sun.

Include Bunting – Nothing really says a traditional Lake District summer than some bunting. Proudly hung at shows and fairs across the beautiful national park, your wedding bunting can be in traditional white colours, can be in the colours of your wedding theme, or you can ask your guests to each bring a flag that can then be attached and made completely unique to you.

Flower Crowns are Trending – The summer has an abundance of flowers to choose from so getting some flower crowns made up for you and your maids is a great idea. Perfect for the season and looks amazing in the photographs.
