In England, each area within a property that weddings are held must have its own license and for this reason only designated ‘Wedding’ locations can be used to hold the ceremony. At Broadoaks we have five areas available for your civil ceremony.

The Upper Lawn
(max capacity 100)
If an outdoor Lake District wedding ceremony is your thing, The Upper Lawn at Broadoaks provides the perfect setting with its amazing views across Troutbeck, the surrounding valleys and Windermere in the distance.
With its luscious colourful trees and perfectly manicured green, it’s our groundsman, Simon’s, pride and joy (although he does get a little distressed when helicopters land on it!).
The William Morris Music Room
(max capacity 32)
Built onto the house in 1905 as a music room for old Dr Charles, the charming Music room at Broadoaks boasts a vaulted ceiling – perfect for filling the room with a beautiful piano melody for a grand entrance.
For weddings, the furniture can be moved about to create a mini aisle and the large open fire creates a cosy setting for winter weddings.
Great Oaks & Small Oaks Room
(max capacity 60)
The Oaks room at Broadoaks boasts original Victorian high ceilings with traditional mouldings and has a beautiful fireplace at one end of the room.
The room looks out onto the surrounding green valley as well as the fast-flowing beck that runs from the village of Troutbeck heading to Windermere.
The Orangery
(max capacity 100)
If you’re looking for a Lake District orangery wedding, The Orangery at Broadoaks provides a light and airy ceremony space that brings the Lakeland outdoors inside.
With views across the river and majestic woodland as your backdrop, The Orangery is perfect in any season.
The Upper Lawn at Broadoaks
(max capacity 100)
The upper lawn at Broadoaks has amazing views across to lake Windermere in the distance as well as the surrounding valleys. This fine green is our groundsman Simon’s pride and joy (although he does get a little distressed when helicopters land on it!).
The William Morris Music Room at Broadoaks
(max capacity 32)
The music room at Broadoaks is a beautiful room that oozes charm and character, built onto the house in 1905 as a music room for old Dr Charles it boasts a vaulted ceiling and traditional oak panelled walls. For weddings the furniture can be moved about to create a mini aisle, the baby grand in the corner of the room can also be used by our local pianist to fill the room with music for a grand entrance.
Great Oaks & Small Oaks Room
(max capacity 60)
The Oaks room at Broadoaks is a beautifully decorated room that is used during standard service as our fine dining room. The room boasts original Victorian high ceilings with traditional mouldings and has a beautiful fireplace at one end of the room. The room looks out onto the surrounding green valley as well as the fast flowing beck that runs from the village of Troutbeck heading to Windermere.
For smaller ceremonies (up to 30) we can also use the top end of this beautiful room.
The Broadoaks Wedding Orangery
(max capacity 100)
Our beautiful Victorian Orangery with its pretty white furniture and views across the river and rear gardens can accommodate up to 100 guests for a ceremony.
Local Church Wedding Instead?
For those couples who would like to have a religious ceremony, we are lucky enough to be within a 10 minute drive away from two very beautiful local churches.
St Mary’s, Windermere and Jesus Church, Troutbeck. Both of these churches are old, romantic & very pretty. Details can be found on their websites shown below.

BROADOAKS WEDDING BREAKFAST LOCATIONS
Your first meal together as a married couple is called “The Wedding Breakfast”. It is a very special meal to be shared with everyone you love and who loves you. As you can see from the below pictures we have hosted some splendid meals. All you have to do is choose the food, the room and the decor!
This video and the separate galleries should give you some good ideas to help you decide what room you would like to host your wedding breakfast and also how you would like it to be decorated.
