A Christmas Miracle Proposal

The date is 25th November 2016, and it’s Chris and Luke’s turn to make wedding celebration history. This is a story of their love and quest for the perfect gay-friendly wedding venue in the Lake District.

New York at Christmas – is there anything more romantic that that image? Well, there is when a proposal swiftly follows suit…

On Christmas morning, Luke handed Chris a card, to which Chris opened completely none-the-wiser. As Chris’ eyes started to water reading the beautiful message crafted within, he burst into tears as, at the end, Luke oh so sophisticatedly wrote the words…

‘Will you marry me?’

An immediate YES! from Chris gave them both the best Christmas present they could have ever asked for.

Simple and Classy

When deciding on the look and feel of their wedding, Chris & Luke knew from the start that they didn’t want it to be too OTT. Choosing a complimenting colour palette of purple, grey, white and silver, they certainly set the tone for what was to be a stunning aesthetic to their day.

In fact, as they were set on not having a wedding party, to cement their theme further, they kindly asked all their guests to adhere to that very colour scheme, which upon reflection in the photographs, was a visually-stunning decision.

A Gay-Friendly Wedding Venue That Speaks Louder Than Words

Their search for a gay-friendly wedding venue in the Lake District was met with an exciting array of options, however, although Chris and Luke weren’t entirely sure on what they wanted, they knew it was incredibly important that they chose the venue that made them feel special.

Upon visiting Broadoaks for the first time, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

As feeling special was on the top of their priorities list, they were immediately made to feel at home at Broadoaks.

Offering exclusive use of the entire venue (and its stunning surrounds), Chris and Luke both felt that their dream of an intimate wedding of 50 guests would be delivered in abundance at this elegant and classy venue.

Then, after sampling the mouth-watering menu and being treated like Kings by the friendly and caring staff, it was official: Broadoaks was to be the home of their gay-friendly, lake district wedding.

The Big Day

It started with a sparkle of crisp frost across the ground, piercing blue skies and sunshine creating a spectacular winter wonderland as guests arrived to share the pair’s fairy-tale wedding in the Lake District.

Snapped by the incredible Chris Morse Wedding Photography, the magic of the day was certainly captured with many hilarious candid shots showing the essence of love and laughter that exuded throughout.

The pièce de résistance came in the form of a perfectly on-theme cake provided by The Bakery at No 4, which was made a spectacle of in the traditional way by Chris and Luke.

Dancing In The Dark provided the soundtrack to the evening, which saw many guests (including our handsome grooms) shake their shimmies in a display of unrivalled euphoria, which seemed to take over the entire guest list, especially when coupled with the outrageous scenes from the Photo Mirror from Photobooth Cumbria – as this really added an extra sparkle to the night!

Upon Reflection

When asked about what really made their day perfect, Chris and Luke were in complete agreement that, as well as the outstanding food, (which guests are still talking about 18 months later!) the care and friendliness from the staff was by far the crowning glory of their wedding. They both felt ‘VIP special’ from the moment they arrived to the moment they flopped, which they couldn’t have asked for any better.

Final Word…
