Our partnership with Laurent Perrier champagne officially began in August 2012 when we were selected as one of their ‘Partners of Choice’, but our love affair with this champagne started much earlier than 2012 due to its distinctive flavour, with hints of citrus and white fruits, and a fine long finish.
One of the best-known champagnes houses, Laurent Perrier was established in 1812 by Alphonse Pierlot, but was not in fact called ‘Laurent Perrier’ until 1887. In 1881 Pierlot’s cellar master, Eugene Laurent, took over the running over the company with his wife Mathilde-Emilie Perrier. When Laurent died in 1887, Mathilde fused their two surnames to create Laurent Perrier.
The company was then later sold to Madame Marie Louise Lanson de Nonancourt and passed down to her son Bernard to run who turned it from being ranked 98th among Champagne producers to one of the top houses at the turn of the century.
Recognise the name Lanson in there? Madame Marie was, in fact, the sister of Victor and Henri Lanson, owners of the Lanson champagne house.
Bernard’s belief that ‘you will never be a good director without first being a good worker’ which was passed down from his mother is believed to contribute to Bernard’s success in turning Laurent Perrier into the success it still is today.
“I could not live without Champagne. In victory I deserve it. In defeat I need it.” Winston S.Churchill
What are ‘Partners of Choice’?
Laurent Perrier set out to forge partnerships with hotels and restaurants whose food would complement their selection of champagnes. Our ‘Fusion’ of modern French fine dining classics with a Cumbrian twist matched that criteria and we are now proud to only serve Laurent Perrier champagne in our bar and restaurant.
Commenting on the partnership Tracy, owner of Broadoaks Country House says;
“We are proud to be a Laurent Perrier ‘partner of choice’ and their wonderful champagne perfectly compliments the food we serve and the types of guest we attract to our boutique country house. Having such a well-known brand choose to partner with us helps understand the type of luxury experience they will have when they visit, before they have even arrived.”
At Broadoaks the house champagne we serve is Laurent-Perrier NV, Brut, but we also serve Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut, NV, a favourite for Kate Moss and only contains 60 calories per glass, as well as; Demi-Sec, NV, Vintage 2006, Rose NV, Brut and Grand Siècle NV Brut.
