Every year, the Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate and reward the best venues across Cumbria and we are delighted to announce that we have won Cumbria Tourisms The Wedding Venue of the Year award. The award which was sponsored by Napthens LLP saw us win last night against 2 other shortlisted venues Caste Green Hotel and Heather Glen County House.
Last year we were also finalists in the Small Hotel of the Year category and this year we are delighted to have won the prestigious ‘Best Wedding Venue’ award!
Getting married is incredibly exciting for so many reasons – getting to spend the rest of your life with the love of your life, bringing all your family and friends together to celebrate, and, of course, the gift list!
It might not be at the top of your wedding planning list, but compiling your gift list can be great fun for you and your partner, but where do you start?
You may have been dreaming about your wedding day for years and know exactly how you want it to be or it may have crept up on you and you’ve not given it too much thought but, either way, you’re going to want to give a little bit of something back to your guests to thank them for attending.
Planning your wedding can be one of the most daunting experiences of your life. With a host of traditions as old as time, creating a picture perfect white wedding is often the priority for couples. For those couples that want a more unique day however, the market is expanding for alternative celebrations. From bridal suits, to street-food styled breakfasts, the world is your oyster when it comes to putting your spin on the trade of rings. If you’re in need of some inspiration, then read on for our 10 Ways to Go Against Tradition At Your Wedding Day.
The day that you get married is a day that you want to share with everybody that you love, so creating your guest list is no easy task, especially as you’ll be working with a budget and not able to invite everybody you’ve ever known.
So how do you whittle down who actually gets an invite and who doesn’t? Read on for our no-nonsense guide!
Our wedding team here at Broadoaks really appreciate that it’s the tiny details that can make the biggest impact. We love to help our couples create a wedding experience that’s as individual as they are. That’s why we’ve been busy crafting some new personalised wedding options to help you colour coordinate your big day in a way that will make your guests say WOW!
If somebody close to you has recently gotten engaged and you have been asked to be their best man, you may be wondering exactly what your role will entail and what responsibilities you need to be aware of to help your friend’s big day run as smoothly as possible.
You probably know that the best man is the one to organise the stag do, but what else does the role really involve? It’s actually a role with far more responsibility than you may realise! We’ve pulled together this guide to help you prepare for the big day.
If someone were to ask you to define being British in 60 seconds, chances are, the words ‘afternoon tea’ would be in the mix at some point.
Since its inception in the early nineteenth-century, it’s come to be regarded as somewhat of an institution in this country, associated with London’s fashionable society as a way to socialise with friends and neighbours.
Here at Broadoaks, we’re proud to be a same-sex friendly venue and we’ve been lucky enough to have hosted many same-sex marriages and civil partnerships here in the beautiful Lake District.
One of many questions we get from our couples and their families is regarding the etiquette for various elements of a same-sex wedding, as a lot of the traditional etiquette is very much gender specific.
So, with that in mind, we thought we’d put together this post to clear up a few things and answer a few questions you may have!
If you’ve been asked to be a bridesmaid or the maid of honour at a wedding, first things first: congratulations!
Being asked to be part of the bridal party is a huge honour and something that you should really be proud of. However, it can also be a big responsibility and slightly overwhelming if you’ve never done it before, especially if you don’t quite understand just how important it is.
With that in mind, we’ve put together this guide to make sure you can support your friend as much as possible on their big day and make sure it’s an occasion to be remembered, all for the right reasons!
