Broadoaks
Country House

A prominent position, a colourful history

This historic country house was constructed from traditional Lakeland stone in 1836, Broadoaks was originally the Victorian summer residence of a prominent military man.

The second owner, Dr Charles Hodges, took the step of introducing electricity at the turn of the century and the house became one of the first to be connected to the Windermere & District Electric Co. Uncle Charlie as he was known also had a great love for Music , he added on the vaulted ceiling Music room in 1905 . This beautiful arts and crafts room with its Oak walls was designed by William Morris , just look at the ornate plaster work .

Broadoaks Country House was turned into a Country House Hotel in 1990.

Today this beautiful Country House is owned and run by Tracey Robinson an IT and business entrepreneur originally from Liverpool who spends her time between the Lake District and London. Tracey's wealth of experiences from travelling the world have brought a refreshing new vision to Broadoaks: to introduce a hint of 21st Century styling of a boutique hotel to a traditional Lake District country house.
